“Precise Biometrics argued that the issue of liveness detection on mobile devices – which are increasingly being used for online purchases – is quickly becoming a critical issue.”
Precise Biometrics has published a white paper on the importance of liveness detection for mobile biometrics. Entitled “Spoof and Liveness Detection for the Mobile Biometrics Market,” the publication is intended as an introductory primer on the issue.
The paper also details Precise Biometrics’ own liveness detection solutions. The company acquired a specialist in the field, NexID Biometrics, early this year, and has since sought to showcase its liveness detection technology as part of the expanded Precise Biometrics portfolio.
In a statement announcing the new white paper, the company asserts that nearly six out of 10 financial transactions will be undertaken using biometric authentication by the year 2020. Noting that “it is possible to readily acquire a latent fingerprint in under 60 seconds using a variety of known methods,” Precise Biometrics argued that the issue of liveness detection on mobile devices – which are increasingly being used for online purchases – is quickly becoming a critical issue.
The white paper is available as a free download from Precise Biometrics’ website.
