MorphoTrust USA’s IdentoGO is hosting another sign-up event for the TSA PreCheck program. The company will be setting up a sign-up center at the PGA Constellation Senior Players Championship.
TSA PreCheck is a program aiming to fast-track travelers through security screening at airports via biometric identification. Interested individuals enroll in advance in a process involving the collection of both traditional biographic data as well as biometric information that will later provide the basis for authentication at participating airports. At those airports’ PreCheck kiosks, passengers are scanned for their biometric data, which is then matched against the previously collected records, allowing for immediate and convenient authentication.
It’s a program meant to improve security, efficiency, and customer convenience, and has been adopted at numerous airports across the United States. While it has attracted considerable interest from travelers as well, there are presently concerns that the TSA will change its policy to rely not on biometric information for the program, but on biographic information checked against big data analytics. Concerned parties like the IBIA (International Biometrics & Identification Association) have warned against such a change, which they believe could seriously reduce the security of the PreCheck system. Meanwhile, IdentoGO carries on with its work, helping to spread the program to travellers visiting Belmont, Massachusetts, to enjoy a bit of golf.
