BIO-key‘s PortalGuard solution has netted the company another industry award. This time, the identity and access management specialist is a winner in the 2022 Fortress Cyber Security Awards’ “Authentication and Identity” category.
“We are so proud to name BIO-key PortalGuard as a winner in the 2022 Fortress Cyber Security Awards program,” enthused Maria Jimenez, the Chief Nominations Officer for the Business Intelligence Group, which organizes the awards program. “As our society continues to evolve and become more reliant on networks and data, companies like BIO-key are critical at providing the protection and trust consumers demand.”
BIO-key added PortalGuard to its solutions portfolio in June of 2020, through its acquisition of PistolStar. PortalGuard is an enterprise-focused Single Sign-On solution supporting multi-factor authentication, including – thanks to its integration into BIO-key’s portfolio of biometric solutions – fingerprint recognition.
The solution almost immediately started to draw in business for BIO-key, with new deployments continuing after the company upgraded the PortalGuard platform in February of last year. In a recent update for Q4 of 2021 and the full fiscal year, BIO-key revealed that PortalGuard had been the primary factor behind a sharp uptick in revenues, and that it had helped to put the company on track to potentially reach operational breakeven this year.
In a statement announcing the 2022 Fortress Cyber Security Award win, BIO-key CEO Michael DePasquale emphasized the value of passwordless authentication amid evolving cybersecurity threats.
“Traditional authentication methods, based on something the user knows or has, are being hacked,” he said. “We are honored to have PortalGuard recognized for its ability to not only control access, but more importantly for its ability to offer true biometric authentication, a better way to authenticate, at a time when it is needed more than ever.”
The recognition comes shortly after BIO-key won a Govies Government Security Award last month in the category of User Authentication/Identification/Credentialing and Management – also thanks to the PortalGuard solution.
