Plurilock is trying to patent a new multi-device behavioral biometric solution. The company has filed its non-provisional patent application with the US Patent and Trademark Office, building on a provisional patent application that was filed in March of last year.
In terms of utility, the patent describes a solution that is much like any other behavioral biometric system, insofar as it analyzes user behavior to provide continuous authentication during a session. However, the Plurilock system is stands apart because it can provide coverage for multiple devices simultaneously. Someone’s typing speed will be different on a laptop than it is on a smartphone, and Plurilock’s offering can determine which device is in use at any given moment, and verify someone’s identity accordingly.
According to Plurilock, the system is designed for professional environments in which people may need to use multiple connected devices to carry out their jobs. The solution leverages wireless connectivity to figure out which device is in use in a given area, and to generate a risk score for a session. It will also lock someone out of a device if the user’s behavior does not fit the expected pattern. Plurilock is now awaiting a final decision from the USPTO.
In the meantime, one of Purilock’s subsidiaries has landed a lucrative contract with the US government. Aurora Systems (which Plurilock acquired in 2021) has secured a $1.5 million purchase order with the US Department of Defense as part of NASA’s Solution for Enterprise-Wide Procurement program. Under the terms of the agreement, Aurora will outfit the government with security hardware, software, and support services.
For its part, Plurilock is hoping that the deal will pave the way for future contracts in the government sector. The company and its subsidiaries have now signed contracts worth a total of $5.06 million since the start of 2022.
Finally, Plurilock also announced the hiring of Garr Stephenson, Jr. as the company’s new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Stephenson has spent more than 20 years working for companies that provide technology solutions for the US government, and joins Plurilock following a stint UltiSat’s Executive Vice President and General Manager for Intelligence & Mobility Services. His career includes prior stops at Tachyon Networks and SAIC.
Plurilock is currently trying to grow its business through acquisitions. The company completed its acquisition of Integra in March, adding the IT specialist to a roster that already includes Aurora and India’s CloudCodes Software Private Limited.
