Another major healthcare network has deployed Nuance‘s clinical automation technology.
The Piedmont Healthcare network spans 11 hospitals across Georgia, and serves almost two million patients, with particular expertise the treatment of cancer and heart disease, as well as organ transplantation. The organization has implemented Dragon Medical One, Nuance’s voice dictation platform for recording patient stories, together with the PowerMic Mobile microphone app; and it has embraced Dragon Medical Advisor, which Nuance describes as an AI-powered assistant for physician documentation.
In a statement announcing the deployment, Piedmont Healthcare Chief Medical Information Officer Robert Budman, M.D., attested, “In just a short period of time, Nuance Dragon Medical One and PowerMic Mobile have improved our physicians’ ability to more quickly and accurately create a pertinent document of our patients’ stories.” Budman added that Piedmont Healthcare administrators plan to expand the use of Nuance’s solutions “to a broader group of clinicians and caregivers in the weeks and months to come.”
Doctor Budman’s enthusiasm for Nuance’s solutions echoes that of healthcare providers at the Health Quest hospital network in Connecticut and the Hudson Valley, where a 31-month study found encouraging metrics concerning the implementation of Nuance’s Dragon Medical technologies. And there will likely be more such feedback to come, with Nuance having reported growing international demand for its clinical dictation technology in late summer.
