April is Physical Access & Enterprise Month at FindBiometrics, a four week event in which we place a featured focus on the biometrics technology locking doors and protecting businesses. Scheduled to coincide with ISC West, the largest security industry conference in the world, Physical Access & Enterprise Month was filled with live event coverage, exclusive interviews, featured articles and incentive industry commentary all culminating with the latest entry in our renowned biometrics webinar series.
With April now coming to an end, it’s time to look back on the big highlights of Physical Access & Enterprise Month:
The Primer
Thanks to the industry leadership on display every year at ISC West, April is often a transformative time in the physical access and enterprise security spaces, and that includes identity management. To start the month’s festivities off on the right note, we compiled a primer of news, features and interviews to illustrate the major trends, topics and discussions happening in the biometric security in advance of another conversation-shifting ISC West.

Live From ISC West 2018
April 10 through 13 marked the 2018 ISC West conference and exhibition in Las Vegas, and FindBiometrics was there again, reporting live from the show floor. FindBiometrics President Peter O’Neill amplified the significant biometrics industry presence at the conference, conducting nearly a dozen audio interviews with executives at the exhibition. Innovations in AI, cloud technology, facial recognition, iris recognition, internet of things and more punctuated the already rapid evolution of this significant biometrics market segment, and FindBiometrics captured the spirit of it all through reporting, commentary and photography.

The Biometrics Protecting Businesses
In week two of Physical Access & Enterprise Month we focused on the enterprise side of the equation, examining three ways biometrics can be deployed to protect the modern business. Taking a good look at wearables in the workplace, server rooms and cabinets, and time clocks, it’s easy to see why today’s enterprises are continuing to look to biometric security.

The Contactless Questions
Contactless biometrics such as face, iris and gait recognition are all finding traction in the physical access market. On week three of Physical Access & Enterprise Month we analysed the rise of contactless modalities in physical access, the benefits they bring to the space, and what their increased prominence means for biometric security at large.
