Philips’ Speech Processing Solutions has upgraded its Philips SpeechLive dictation system with integrated speech recognition technology.
The speech recognition service is being aimed at busy professionals as a means of saving them time in their work. It’s available in 21 languages and is compatible with recordings from Philips voice recorders and the Philips dictation app, and in a statement from Speech Processing Solutions the company said it can transcribe the recordings “almost immediately.” The company also highlighted the service’s utility to individuals in the fields of real estate, journalism, law, healthcare, finance, and insurance.
Such transcription services appear to be on the rise now that speech recognition technology has become sophisticated enough to allow on-the-fly capabilities. Last month, Nuance Communications launched Dragon Legal, its own dictation system aimed specifically at law professionals, for example. And as major IT companies like Google continue to push the state of the art forward, we may see more offerings to come.
