GoTyme Bank, a newly-launched digital bank serving the Philippines, is using Daon‘s IdentityX platform for customer onboarding. While IdentityX supports multiple biometric modalities, GoTyme has opted for a selfie-based approach, allowing end users to verify their identity by uploading a selfie and an image of their physical ID, with facial recognition comparing the two to verify a match.
“Integrating our digital banking app with the Daon IdentityX platform will help to keep our mission of providing our customers seamless access to a wider portfolio of financial services than ever before,” said GoTyme Bank CTO Chris Bennett. “Our customers should feel safe and comfortable with secure account setup, opening doors to better savings, transfers, and rewards that our digital bank has to offer.”
For Daon’s part, EMEA and APAC President Clive Bourke emphasized that the integration of IdentityX into GoTyme’s app “will provide their customers with a more efficient and reliable user experience, all while increasing the security of the application and expanding the platform as a trusted solution for leading Fintech customers across the globe.”
Beyond the provision of the onboarding system’s facial recognition technology, Daon is also delivering fraud prevention tech including watchlist matching, third-party identity checks, and a manual review service. That speaks to the custom-tailored approach Daon takes to individual clients, which CEO Tom Grissen detailed in a recent interview with FindBiometrics.
In addition to using Daon’s facial recognition technology to let customers verify their identities with a selfie through the mobile app, GoTyme is also allowing interested customers to sign up for an account using a digital kiosks set up in supermarkets and malls across the Philippines. Those kiosks ask interested customers to present ID and provide a fingerprint scan.
