Identity verification company Persona is broadening the range of government-issued digital IDs its platform can accept, adding support for several national wallet and electronic identity schemes for know-your-customer and age-assurance checks.
In a summer product update, Persona said its digital ID coverage would grow to include Germany’s EUDI Wallet, France Identité, Singapore’s Singpass, South Korea’s Korea Credit Bureau, and Australia’s ConnectID. The company listed the additions as early-access features, meaning they are being rolled out to customers rather than generally available. Several of those schemes are still maturing themselves: France Identité, for one, has been steadily extending its app, adding an iOS sandbox and testing privacy-preserving age verification as France prepares its entry into the EU wallet framework.
The update also adds an integration with AirKey that turns a Capital One credit or debit card into an NFC-based identity token. A user taps the physical card, and AirKey confirms the card is in hand and returns verified cardholder data in a single tap, which Persona frames as a way to add tap-to-verify to an onboarding flow without new hardware.
Persona positions the digital ID additions as a way for businesses to accept more forms of identification through one integration, without rebuilding their verification flows or collecting more data than a given check requires. The company also said it had achieved FedRAMP Moderate authorization, a status aimed at letting federal agencies use its platform for identity checks.
Support for the new digital IDs and the AirKey integration is being made available through early access, with wider rollout to follow.
