Singapore-based payment services specialist TRAXX has developed a new, automated customer onboarding system based on selfie authentication technology from Acuant.
Dubbed TRAXX.ID, the system replaces TRAXX’s previous, manual review process for customers’ identity documents. It leverages Acuant’s AssureID and FaceID solutions to verify the validity of official IDs, and to match them to an end user’s selfie image via facial recognition.
The solution also incorporates a liveness test designed to thwart attempts at spoofing the facial recognition system.
In announcing the new solution, TRAXX indicated that it opted for Acuant’s selfie onboarding solution based largely on the simplicity of its implementation process, with TRAXX Managing Director Derek Han crediting the “extremely helpful” Software Development Kit and Acuant’s responsive support team.
Han went on to highlight the efficiencies that automated biometric onboarding brings to TRAXX’s operations. “TRAXX can now replace the manual process of visually inspecting documents, a task which is not only time consuming but also dependent on the skill of the human inspector,” he said. “Acuant has afforded us a great convenience by not only eliminating the need for both parties to be present at the same location, but also at the same time.”
“In this time of increasingly digital transactions and fraud, businesses have to keep up with secure solutions that employ automation,” explained Acuant President Yossi Zekri. “Our goal is to make this as easy to implement as possible and to provide world-class support.”
News of the collaboration comes shortly after Acuant’s announcement that it had joined the Digital ID & Authentication Council of Canada, and after it received provisional FedRAMP approval from US government authorities. The TRAXX integration demonstrates indicates Acuant’s ongoing activity in the private sector alongside these government-focused achievements.
