Paychex has released a comprehensive statement that details its response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The company provides HR, payroll, and insurance services for more than 670,000 small and medium-sized businesses, and noted that there has been a significant increase in customer calls and the amount of traffic on its Paychex Flex mobile platform since the onset of the virus.
In its statement, Paychex indicated that it is doing its best to meet the needs of its clientele, and that it will do everything it can to help them navigate the new social, economic, and legislative landscape.
“We will monitor Paychex Flex to understand what solutions our customers are leveraging to help them settle into new workplace dynamics and support business continuity,” said Paychex President and CEO Martin Mucci. “Our team of compliance professionals is connecting with federal, state, and local governments to advocate for the interests of our customers and to ensure we are well-positioned to help them meet the requirements of any new regulations.”
To that end, Paychex will offer support for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which set aside billions of dollars for paid sick leave and unemployment insurance, amongst other things. Employers can use Paychex Flex to remotely process leave requests from employees who have tested positive for COVID-19. The documents can be submitted with a mobile device.
Paychex will also support customers with its usual array of HR and payroll services, although the company has made some adjustments to acknowledge the coronavirus. For example, the company will offer HR advice for customers that need to create new workplace policies, and provide tips and biometric time tracking solutions for those who need to transition to a remote environment. Employees and businesses that need to maintain cash flow can similarly take advantage of features like Pay-on-Demand and 401(k) withdrawals.
Paychex went on to confirm that the vast majority (95 percent) of its own staff are now working from home in accordance with the latest social distancing recommendations.
