“Computer vision is evolving at a dramatic pace, and we’re truly energized to harness the latest advances in AI and deep learning to help our partners solve some of the most challenging problems in identity, safety, and security. As a partner-focused, U.S.-based company delivering world-class accuracy, we feel we have a unique role to play in this regard.” Doug Aley, CEO Paravision
Paravision has further improved its facial recognition technology, announcing the fourth generation update of its flagship solution. Based on Paravision’s own benchmarks, the latest version of its technology has shown a 36 percent reduction in its error rate, in comparison to the Paravision algorithm most recently tested by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
That in itself is impressive in consideration of how well Paravision’s facial recognition solution performed in NIST’s Face Recognition Vendor Test. The company’s algorithm ranked third in the world in the category of 1:N Identification, and second in the world in testing with subjects wearing face masks. It was also the top performer in the US, UK, and Europe across major benchmarks.
The improved error rate suggests that Paravision could perform even better in the next round of FRVT testing. It’s also noteworthy for how Paravision’s machine learning system was trained.
In announcing the 4th-gen solution, Paravision noted that this is its first update since the company shut down its Ever photo-sharing platform. And whereas the Ever database of user images had previously been used to train the company’s facial recognition system, the company says that this latest update was not trained on any Ever data.
“Computer vision is evolving at a dramatic pace, and we’re truly energized to harness the latest advances in AI and deep learning to help our partners solve some of the most challenging problems in identity, safety, and security,” said Paravision CEO Doug Aley. “As a partner-focused, U.S.-based company delivering world-class accuracy, we feel we have a unique role to play in this regard.”
Paravision offers its facial recognition solution in the form of both a cloud-based matching service and a Software Development Kit.
