Panini has confirmed that it will be making the trek to Paris for Trustech 2021. The event will run from November 30 to December 2 at the Porte de Versailles Paris Expo, where Panini will be showcasing its wares at booth F51 in pavilion 5.2
Those that visit the booth will be treated to the world premiere of Panini’s much anticipated biometric authentication solution. The company hinted at a biometric authentication offering when it joined the FIDO Alliance in June, and has now revealed that it will be demoing and discussing the completed BioCred system during Trustech. In doing so, Panini also shared more details about BioCred itself. The system will rely on fingerprint authentication, with additional support for QR codes and NFC technology. End users will need to opt into the system, and BioCred will generate an encrypted credential for each user once they have done so.
Perhaps more importantly, Panini went on to reveal that those users will retain control of their own biometric credentials, and not the company that is using the in-person authentication system. That decision was made with an eye toward privacy, and to minimize the exposure of the organization. Panini will share additional details about BioCred at its booth, and during a presentation on the Trustech Innovation Stage on December 1.
“Even though many of us unlock our smartphones multiple times a day via fingerprint, some banks may have remained exposed to identity theft in their key revenue-generating channel – their physical branch,” said Panini CEO Richard Kane. “BioCred addresses this need by combining convenience, security and privacy in a truly ingenious way, and offers a great opportunity for consolidation of key identity functions.”
Panini will also highlight the latest iteration of its EverneXt cheque scanner. The new scanner supports wired and wireless connections, and runs on Everest architecture that can run independently of the organization’s operating system. EverneXt instead uses the HTTPS protocol, and does not rely on an API. Panini is hoping that the new EverneXt will catch on with French banks, who have been early adopters of EverneXt scanners in the past.
Panini brought on a new Chief Technology and Strategy Officer back in March.
