OVD Kinegram Updates Mobile Chip SDK with Faster Chip Verification

OVD Kinegram’s digital identity unit, kinegram.digital, has released performance enhancements to its Mobile Chip SDK for online identity document verification. The company said the update delivers lower latency and faster chip verification for electronic passports and other eMRTD documents.

The Mobile Chip SDK is a software solution for identity document chip verification in online checks. Kinegram.digital said it is used in remote onboarding flows that rely on reading chip data from eMRTDs. The company said the update is focused on performance and support rather than new verification features. The update is intended to reduce friction in mobile and web onboarding flows.

According to the company, response times for chip verification are now three to four times faster. The improvement applies to both kinegram.digital’s global secure server architecture and customer-hosted server deployments. The company said the same performance gains are available across both deployment models. Kinegram.digital said faster verification is intended to make remote identity checks smoother for end users.

The update adds new diagnostics and logging features designed to help with support and troubleshooting. A trace and log file capability captures detailed transaction data, while a diagnostic option allows customers to collect and share troubleshooting information when issues arise. The company said the additions are aimed at reducing time spent resolving verification problems and improving support workflows.

Kinegram.digital said the diagnostic option is intended to help customers capture and share data for analysis when verification errors occur. The company said this can speed up troubleshooting and reduce time to resolution in production environments.

Kinegram.digital said chip verification speed is a common bottleneck in remote identity verification, especially for regulated onboarding and eKYC. It said the 3-4x response time improvement can reduce drop-offs and improve reliability for banks and digital identity providers relying on eMRTD chip reads.

The performance improvements apply across deployments for customers using the SDK in mobile or web-based onboarding, including those running customer-hosted servers. The release focuses on response time gains and diagnostic tooling rather than changes to document verification features.
