ŌURA, the provider of the Oura Ring wearable device, has acquired Sparta Science, a health and performance data platform provider, to enhance its enterprise offering, Oura Teams. The acquisition aims to integrate Sparta Science’s Trinsic platform with ŌURA’s biometric tracking capabilities, creating a more comprehensive solution for organizational health monitoring.
The integration will enable ŌURA to expand its presence in healthcare, government, and enterprise sectors, building on its existing collaborations with the Department of Defense for personnel health monitoring. The enhanced platform will combine Oura Ring’s continuous biometric data collection with Sparta Science’s expertise in performance analytics and third-party system integration.
Dorothy Kilroy, ŌURA’s Chief Commercial Officer, emphasizes that the acquisition strengthens the company’s ability to deliver enterprise-scale solutions while maintaining compliance with HIPAA requirements and security standards. Through the expanded Oura Teams platform, organizations can now effectively manage both individual and group health metrics, enabling more informed decisions about resource allocation and personnel readiness.
A key advantage of Sparta Science’s Trinsic platform is its sophisticated integration capabilities with electronic medical records (EMR) and athlete management systems (AMS). This functionality allows organizations to develop customized data workflows and analytics dashboards to meet their specific needs. The platform’s force plate technology, which will maintain support through 2024, has proven valuable for military and athletic organizations in performance assessment and injury prevention programs.
This strategic acquisition follows ŌURA’s recent momentum, including the launch of the Oura Ring 4 and previous acquisitions of Proxy and Veri. The company has demonstrated significant growth, surpassing 2.5 million rings sold. To ensure successful platform development and integration, several key Sparta Science team members, including engineers and data scientists, will transition to ŌURA’s workforce.
