OrCam Updates Computer Vision Tech, Announces New Products at CES 2020

OrCam has announced an update to its most popular device, and will be unveiling a series of new products at CES 2020 this year in Las Vegas.

On the update front, OrCam’s most popular product — the OrCam MyEye 2, a small device that users clip onto their glasses to help them see the world around them — will be getting some new features.

The MyEye 2, which already can read text and signs aloud to the wearer and identify faces, objects, and currency, will soon be able to guide wearers by answering questions like “What’s in front of me?”, and then directing them toward the identified object. The MyEye 2 will also improve its natural language processing capabilities to allow for interactive reading sessions.

The first of a pair of new devices announced by OrCam is the OrCam Hear — a device that helps users identify and isolate a speaker’s voice, allowing them to follow a conversation in a noisy public space. The OrCam Hear can be paired with existing Bluetooth hearing aids.

Lastly, OrCam is introducing the OrCam Read, a handheld device that uses artificial intelligence to read text. When pointed at text, the OrCam Read can dictate what it reads to the user, with the company noting that this can be particularly useful to people with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

CES 2020 is taking place in Las Vegas and concludes today, January 10th.
