Onfido is strengthening its presence in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg) region. To that end, the company has signed another partnership and is opening up a new office in Amsterdam to provide better support for its existing customers.
The partner in question is Lynk & Co, a smart mobility specialist that offers service to consumers on a membership basis. Onfido will be outfitting the company with its flagship onboarding solution, which uses document recognition to verify the authenticity of a photo ID, and facial recognition to match that ID to its proper owner. The deal builds on Onfido’s recent success in the Benelux area, where the company’s year-over-year sales are up 216 percent.
In that regard, Lynk & Co joins a Benelux client roster that already includes LeasePlan Bank and the challenger bank bunq. Onfido indicated that its new Amsterdam office will act as a regional headquarters, and help meet the growing demand for digital identity services in Benelux and on the European continent more generally. It will also help combat identity fraud, which has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Benelux is a growing hotbed of international fintech activity that requires robust identity verification for KYC,” said Onfido CEO Mike Tuchen. “This has been an area of growth for Onfido and we’re committed to providing the best possible service to our existing customers, as well as growing our business in the region.”
“By automating KYC processes with identity verification, businesses are protected against sophisticated fraud and benefit from an improved onboarding process for their customers,” added Michael Van Gestel, Onfido’s Global Head of Fraud and GM for the Netherlands.
Onfido itself has enjoyed record growth during the pandemic. Lynk & Co, meanwhile, has released an SUV coupe that uses a built-in fingerprint sensor from Goodix to authenticate its drivers.
