Onfido is dramatically expanding its Real Identity Platform in an effort to provide clients with more comprehensive digital identity services. In doing so, the company will also be upgrading its technology to improve the user experience and mitigate the threat of fraud.
The expanded Real Identity Platform encompasses four distinct but related products, each of which is designed to supplement the company’s primary face-based onboarding and identity verification offering. The biggest performance improvements come courtesy of Onfido Atlas, an AI solution that is designed to automate the verification process. Atlas delivers a 12-fold increase in auto-clearance rates, to the point that Onfido is now able to resolve the vast majority (95 percent) of identity checks in less than 10 seconds. The solution also provides a 54 percent boost in fraud accuracy, and drops false acceptance rates to 0.01 percent. The latter figure is a 10-fold improvement, and should help reduce bias on the platform.
The Onfido Verification Suite, meanwhile, is a collection of trusted data sources that can be used to perform risk analysis. Onfido cross-references user data with those sources during the registration process, and can use them to determine whether or not the information being submitted is legitimate. The Suite draws on databases all over the world, and can be tailored based on the needs of a particular organization. It encompasses Onfido’s Watchlist screening and Ongoing Monitoring services, and draws on everything from Social Security Numbers and motor vehicle records to phone verification and geolocation data.
The next component is Onfido Studio, which is primarily an orchestration tool that allows organizations to create custom identity workflows without needing to write any code. The solution offers a drag-and-drop utility for those trying to assemble a streamlined customer journey.
Finally, Onfido’s Smart Capture SDK helps improve the quality of the information that Onfido uses for verification. The SDK comes with NFC, MRZ, and barcode reading capabilities, as well as image enhancement and face detection tools that make it easier to capture a high-quality facial image. With the SDK, it is 20 percent more likely that customers will be able to capture a suitable document and selfie on their first attempt, which in turn translates to a 90 percent first-time pass rate for those going through a remote onboarding process.
