One Identity, a vendor of identity governance and privileged access management software, plans to operate as an independent company and will designate its office in Cork, Ireland, as its new global headquarters. The company framed the move as a way to focus on a fast-growing identity-security market that it says is being reshaped by AI and the rapid growth of non-human identities.
One Identity pointed to the scale of the opportunity to justify the shift. It put the combined identity governance and administration and privileged access management markets at around $10 billion, citing KuppingerCole’s estimate of the privileged access management market at $5.4 billion and a Gartner estimate that the identity governance market grew 10.7 percent between 2024 and 2025. Rising identity complexity, software-as-a-service sprawl, tighter regulation, and the growth of both human and non-human identities are driving demand, the company said, and operating independently would give it the focus and dedicated investment to compete across both segments.
The choice of Cork reflects where the company already does much of its work. One Identity says more than 80 percent of its engineering organization is based in Europe, along with key leadership roles, and pointed to European rules such as NIS2 and DORA raising expectations for identity governance. The change builds on investment in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ireland.
“Identity is now the control plane for enterprise security,” said Praerit Garg, CEO of One Identity, arguing that most organizations still govern identity with tools built for a different era. He said AI is accelerating the problem, with every agent and automated workflow becoming an identity that needs to be governed, an argument that tracks the wider market move toward securing machine and agent identities, as when Palo Alto Networks launched a platform for human and agentic identity security.
Recently appointed executives will steer the transition, including Chief Financial and Operating Officer Mike Henricks, Chief Product and Marketing Officer Randy Menon, whose appointment to lead IGA and PAM strategy the company announced earlier, and Chief Technology Officer Gihan Munasinghe. One Identity, which says it is trusted by 80 of the Fortune 100, plans to share further milestones as the standalone transition continues through 2026.
