One Identity has acquired Balabit, the companies have announced.
The move comes not long after One Identity officially branched off from Quest Software to become an independent business in June of last year. The firm offers digital identity and access management solutions, and to that end should benefit from its acquisition of Balabit and its Privileged Access Management (PAM) platform, which was upgraded toward the end of last year to offer security based on behavioral biometrics and digital auditing on a turnkey basis.
In a statement, One Identity explained that while Balabit’s session management technology is already being used in the One Identity Safeguard solution thanks to an OEM partnership, the acquisition will allow One Identity to “further expand its PAM solutions with machine learning-driven, privileged account analytics, which are critical to building a complete PAM and IAM stack.” The company also suggested that as the number of identity and access management solutions in the marketplace continues to grow, potential clients “are increasingly seeking to streamline the number of vendors with which they partner.”
For Balabit’s part, CEO Zoltan Gyorko said that thanks to the acquisition, “Balabit’s customers, prospects and partners will be able to enjoy our market-leading PAM tools within the broader stack of first-class PAM and IAM solutions in the One Identity portfolio.”
The companies declined to detail the terms of the acquisition.
