Ondato Adds EUDI Wallet Verification Through Trinsic

Ondato is adding verification through EU Digital Identity Wallets and national digital IDs to its compliance platform, with Trinsic as the infrastructure provider behind the new capability. The companies first announced a partnership in March, when Ondato said it would use Trinsic’s network to extend its digital ID acceptance to more than 50 digital IDs in over 35 countries.

Ondato is preparing for the wallets as member states roll them out. Under eIDAS 2.0, all 27 EU member states must offer at least one digital identity wallet to their citizens by the end of 2026, and by December 2027 banks and other regulated businesses that require strong user authentication must accept the wallets when users ask to use them.

“EU digital identity wallets are the biggest change in a generation to how Europeans prove who they are. For many regulated businesses, accepting them won’t be optional,” said Ondato co-founder and CEO Liudas Kanapienis. “With Trinsic, our clients can accept wallets as they launch, on the same platform they already use for verification, risk assessment, and monitoring.”

The wallet checks will sit alongside Ondato’s existing identity-verification and know-your-customer methods, which already include national digital-identity schemes such as Smart-ID, and will feed into its risk scoring, continuous fraud monitoring and detection. Under the arrangement described in March, users who carry a supported digital ID can verify through it, while those without one fall back to Ondato’s document-based checks.

Trinsic CEO Riley Hughes said the company has been preparing for the EUDI mandate since its earliest phase and already supports national identity-authentication services in France, Italy, Denmark and Austria, among other member states. Its digital ID gateway accepts European eIDs, mobile driver’s licenses, bank IDs, reusable IDs and government digital-ID apps through a single API, drawing on more than 50 integrated identity providers and a network of nearly 1.9 billion pre-verified users.

Ondato, founded in 2018, is headquartered in London with research and development in Vilnius, Lithuania. It says it has onboarded more than 40 million users and served clients in 192 countries; its customers include neobanks, payment providers, social-media services and marketplaces.
