Okta unveiled a pair of new enterprise products at its Oktane20 Live event. The first is Okta Platform Services, while the second is a passwordless login solution dubbed Okta FastPass.
Of the two, Okta FastPass is slightly more straightforward. The platform is designed to create a frictionless login experience across any channel or on any device, and is enabled through the Okta Verify application. Okta Verify allows end users to register their devices, creating a secure link between that device, its user, and the Okta Identity Cloud.
After that, the user will no longer need to enter a password whenever they log into a browser, desktop, or mobile application that is being managed as part of an enterprise’s Okta network. Okta FastPass is compatible iOS, macOS, Android, and Windows, and takes advantage of a device’s biometric capabilities to deliver passwordless security. IT professionals can use the platform to set consistent security practices for their organization.
“Going passwordless not only makes employees happy, but it can make them more secure by relying on stronger factors like biometrics,” said Okta Chief Product Officer Diya Jolly. “This is possible through an upgrade to the Okta Identity Cloud marrying user to device identity.”
Okta Platform Services, meanwhile, is a modular portfolio that combines the Okta Identity Engine with Okta Workflows, Devices, Integrations, Directories, and Insights. Together, the Services will allow organizations to build custom authentication workflows and make it easier to integrate Okta’s identity technology into their existing infrastructure. The solution also offers a degree of future proofing, insofar as it will empower organizations to update their identity practices as that technology continues to improve.
“We have made the Okta Identity Cloud more flexible and customizable to meet virtually every use case imaginable,” added Jolly. “Platform Services provide our customers and partners incredibly broad-ranging functionality across workforce and customer identity solutions.”
The Okta Insights offering includes the HealthInsights and UserInsights solutions, which debuted back in October. The security platform allows enterprises to spot (and stop) suspicious activity on their networks.
The Okta Directories, Integrations, Insights, and Workflows solutions are available now. Okta FastPass, the Okta Identity Engine, and Okta Devices will be available in early access in the fourth quarter of the year.
Okta previously teamed up with Secret Double Octopus to enable passwordless authentication for its customers.
