Nymi is taking more steps to improve the utility of the Nymi Band. To that end, the company has formed a partnership with ELATEC that will ensure that Nymi’s biometric wearables are compatible with ELATEC’s contactless readers.
ELATEC specializes in the development of RFID readers, and also develops NFC and Bluetooth readers for mobile devices. The readers have a customizable open API and can be programmed remotely, making them well-suited to a wide variety of applications, including authentication and access control.
The Nymi Band, meanwhile, uses heartbeat biometrics to verify the identity of the wearer on an ongoing basis. Thanks to the new partnership, users will be able to present the Band at an ELETEC reader to open doors, log into systems, and interact with various devices and machines.
“This partnership provides important market reach for our Workplace Wearables,” said Nymi VP President Andrew Foxcroft. “The Nymi Band is being rapidly adopted in industries like pharma and medical device manufacturing. ELATEC compatibility will facilitate penetration of these and other industries and global regions.”
Nymi has steadily worked to increase the appeal and the interoperability of its products since releasing the Nymi Band 3.0 in September. The company recently announced that it now offers support for the Ping Intelligent Identity Platform, and has also partnered with Quuppa to improve the Band’s location tracking capabilities.
