The Nymi Band is now compatible with the Ping Intelligent Identity Platform. In plain terms, that means that organizations using PingZero for enterprise security can offer the Band (and its associated biometric capabilities) as a passwordless authentication option for their employees.
Both PingZero and the Nymi Band are built to meet the FIDO2 standard for passwordless authentication. Ping Identity launched PingZero with support for multiple biometric modalities earlier this year, levering the technology found in the broader Ping Intelligent Identity Platform. The new solution also tracks device and browser settings to generate user profiles and enable ongoing passive authentication.
Nymi, meanwhile, unveiled the Nymi Band 3.0 back in September, and has since gone on to create a new Technology Partner Program to help find new business use cases for its technology. The Band uses heartrate biometrics to verify the identity of the wearer, and can communicate with other devices through an NFC connection. Aa a result, the Band offers continuous authentication and enables hands-free, tap-based identity verification at workstations and points of entry. The Nymi Band 3.0 also supports contact tracing initiatives, making it easier to maintain a safer workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rockwell Automation and HID Global are some of the early members of the Nymi Partner Program. Rockwell has integrated the Band with its ThinManager software platform to make factory operations more efficient, while HID Global’s Seos applet comes pre-loaded on the secure element of the Nymi Band, creating built-in support for the credentialing system.
Ping Identity moved into the decentralized identity space with its recent acquisition of ShoCard, while Nymi has partnered with Quuppa to enhance its location tracking capabilities. Nymi’s technology has already been deployed with large companies in 16 countries all over the world, and adding support for PingZero should only make the Band more appealing moving forward.
