NOVOMATIC has integrated the ATOM document reader from Access-IS into its own myACP casino management system. The technology will allow myACP users to comply with Know Your Customer regulations in the gaming industry.
To that end, the ATOM is an MRZ reader that uses multiple light sources (and multiple light wavelengths) to scan any identity document that is pressed against the glass. In the process, the reader will capture high-resolution color, infrared, and ultraviolet images of the document, and extract data using OCR technology. The ATOM also comes with NFC capabilities that will allow it to read the RFID chips in electronic IDs.
Taken together, the various systems will allow NOVOMATIC clients to confirm the authenticity of each document and verify the identities of casino players. ATOM is a self-service solution, which is to say that players will be able to scan their own documents at customer touchpoints inside the casino. The ATOM can extract a biometric facial image from an electronic identity document, while myACP protects personal information with firewalls and encryption.
Other ATOM features include an expansion dock with an MSR reader that increases the utility of casino member cards.
“We were looking for a reliable ID reader that also allows us to read the MSR and Chip data of our player cards,” said NOVOMATIC’s Alexander Saam. “ATOM satisfied both of these requirements in a small and stylish package.”
The modular myACP system is currently in use at more than 1,200 gaming locations around the world. Access-IS, meanwhile, previously provided the MRZ reader for Aratek’s Marshall biometric handheld. That device features Access-IS’s OCR310e miniature OCR reading engine.
The announcement comes after the SYNKROS Casino Management System from Konami took home the top prize at the Data Quadrant Awards earlier this year. SYNKROS is a rewards program that can use facial recognition instead of member cards to track the progress of frequent players.
