Novetta Testing Finds Low FMR, FRR for EyeLock Tech

EyeLock’s iris recognition biometrics technology represents “a significant technological breakthrough,” according to data analytics company Novetta.

The assertion is based on testing performed on EyeLock’s behalf, with Novetta assessing the authentication capabilities of the EyeLock EN2 module on 1,200 individuals. EyeLock EN2 is designed to use iris recognition for both biometric registration and authentication.

Novetta, which offers its clients data analytics to detect digital threats and fraud, found that the EyeLock EN2 module attained a False Match Rate for a single iris surpassing 1 in 1.5 million, and had a False Rejection Rate under one percent for a single iris. In a statement, Novetta Identity Intelligence VP Michael Thieme said the testing “concludes that the EyeLock EN2 compares favorably among low cost and/or small form factor iris recognition solutions in terms of accuracy and usability.”

That’s a “breakthrough” reflecting “the level of technical innovation taking place in the industry at large,” Thieme added – a positive assessment for both EyeLock and biometric authentication more broadly.
