NextgenID Releases Biometric Remote Enrollment Solution for Government Agencies

NextgenID has unveiled a new remote identity proofing service to help government agencies meet their credentialing requirements during the COVID-19 pandemic. To that end, the Supervised Remote In-person Proofing (SRIP) solution utilizes NextgenID’s ID*Capture Kiosk to capture people’s fingerprints and complete the identity proofing process.

With the Kiosk, the person supervising the enrollment process can monitor everything remotely, whether they’re standing across the room or using a live stream to check-in from home or an office in another location. The setup allows them to oversee the entire registration while still observing COVID-19 social distancing best practices. Agencies are also advised to provide sanitized wipes to clean the keyboard, the screen, and the fingerprint scanner between each use.

The SRIP process allows the supervisor to walk the applicant through every single step of their Kiosk interaction, and is compliant with the government’s HSPD-12 credentialing standards. As a result, it will mitigate the need to replace interim credentials after the pandemic. The federal government relaxed its usual enrollment procedures to enable remote onboarding in the early stages of the outbreak, but indicated that agencies would eventually need to follow up with new employees who do not submit a fingerprint scan.

With the ID*Capture Kiosk, those agencies will be able to carry out more complete background checks and get closer to their standard operating procedures. The technology was compliant with the federal government’s Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) policy as of June 2019.
