NEXT Biometrics Receives Volume Order From Credence ID

Credence ID has placed its first volume order for FAP 20 fingerprint sensors from NEXT Biometrics. The sensors will be deployed in the company’s new ECO-Identifier scanner, a rugged Android device that was designed to enable biometric identification in the field.

The Credence order is worth NOK 7 million (roughly $810,000 USD), and is the largest order that NEXT has received since its One Touch 2000 FAP20 sensor received FBI certification in the first quarter of 2020. Credence then announced that it would be integrating NEXT’s sensor into its next generation of Android products in May. The company’s ECO products are being marketed as an affordable biometric scanning option for customers in the African, Latin American, and Southeast Asian markets.

The 4G ECO-Identifier supports face and fingerprint recognition, and also comes with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities. NEXT will fulfill the first half of the order in the first quarter of the year, and will then ship the rest of the order in installments.

In September, NEXT received a separate order for 6,000 sensors from Newland Payment Technology. The company then featured those sensors in the first biometric Point of Sale terminal to receive certification for use in Nigeria. NEXT has also received an order for 1,500 sensors from NCS for a government project in Singapore.
