NEXT Biometrics is expanding its market reach through a new partnership with an unnamed provider of access control solutions for the global market. The deal specifically concerns NEXT’s One Touch ID 2010 ultra-slim FAP20 fingerprint sensor, which will be integrated into a range of identity verification and access control devices over the course of the next year.
“We are very pleased about the positive response that the product has generated and are confident that it will help us further accelerate our growth in the access control and government ID segments,” commented NEXT Chief Sales and Marketing Officer Alain Faburel.
The One Touch ID 2010 solution was built to be compliant with the latest regulatory standards, including NIST SP 500-280 v2.1 and the FBI’s Personal Identity Verification (PIV) framework. NEXT started sampling the One Touch ID sensor at the tail end of 2018, and will begin large-scale delivery of the sensors to its new partner in the fourth quarter of 2019 before ramping up to full production in 2020.
The deal reflects NEXT’s comprehensive ambitions in the fingerprint biometrics space. The company has already placed fingerprint sensors in numerous payment terminals and smart cards in the past few months, but is clearly hoping to capture a bigger portion of the access control market with this latest partnership.
