“The collaboration demonstrates again the versatility of our sensor technology.” – Peter Heuman, CEO, NEXT Biometrics
NEXT Biometrics technology is going to be used to secure cryptocurrencies on a blockchain-based digital wallet, thanks to a new purchase order of its fingerprint sensors.
The order comes from Page Electronica, a Belgium-based ICT services provider. Page Electronica’s end customer is NGRAVE, which offers highly-secure digital wallet solutions to consumers.
“We are pleased that our collaboration with Page Electronica and NGRAVE has resulted in this innovative ultra-secure solution,” said NEXT Biometrics CEO Peter Heuman, adding that the order is a testament to NEXT Biometrics’ appeal to “partners with novel solutions as well as our ability to deliver biometric solutions with superior performance.”
In announcing the deal, NEXT Biometrics did not disclose the value of the initial purchase order; but the company did note that it encompasses 10,000 fingerprint sensor units, which are scheduled to ship in December. Over the next two years, Page Electronica anticipates that 20,000 NEXT sensors will be deployed, the company says.
News of the order comes shortly after NEXT Biometrics’ announcement that it had won a contract to design and develop an authentication solution for the Singapore government. And with that deal having arrived after another sensor order from a POS solutions provider in September, it further illustrates the versatility of NEXT’s technology in terms of applications.
“We are excited that yet another interesting new product includes NEXT sensors,” commented Heuman.
