NEXT Biometrics technology will be used in a citizen ID program in Russia, thanks to a new partnership.
The company has announced that a Russian firm called LLC NF Technology has placed an order for 5,000 of its FAP 20 One Touch 2000 fingerprint sensors. The sensors will be used in LLC NF Technology’s ID Card Readers.
“Having tried and tested different fingerprint sensors in the market, we have selected NEXT Biometrics PIV certified FAP 20 fingerprint sensor for this Citizen ID project in Russia,” commented LLC NF Technology Director Nazarov Aleksey in a statement announcing the agreement. “We are impressed by the performance of the NEXT Biometrics fingerprint sensor and the professional support provided by the team at NEXT.”
For NEXT Biometrics’ part, CEO Peter Heuman suggested that the order shows how his firm’s FAP 20 sensor “has been well recognized by our customers and partners since its initial launch early 2020,” adding that the collaboration with LLC NF Technology “will further strengthen the position of NEXT in yet another biometric market.”
News of the partnership arrives on the heels of NEXT Biometrics’ announcement of a $417,400 order that will see its biometric technology used in another project related to Aadhaar, India’s ambitious national biometric ID program.
NEXT Biometrics says the One Touch 2000 sensors for the LLC NF Technology order are now in production and will be shipped in June of this year. The company did not disclose the value of the order.
