NEXT Biometrics has received the first large-scale production order for its new FAP 30 “Granite” fingerprint sensor from an existing Indian OEM customer. The initial order, valued at NOK 3.2 million, is scheduled to begin deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Launched on June 25, 2025, the Granite sensor offers a 67 percent larger scanning area than the company’s FAP 20 models, improving fingerprint capture and recognition for applications such as national ID, elections, border control, banking, and healthcare. The design targets high-security use cases where accuracy and speed are essential.
CEO Ulf Ritsvall said the order “demonstrates the existing demand” for FAP 30 solutions just months after launch. He added that the milestone highlights NEXT Biometrics’ ability to deliver advanced fingerprint technology to customers in priority markets.
Market Context and Recent Contracts
The contract marks progress for NEXT Biometrics in India, where the company has faced challenges stemming from a temporary halt in the country’s Aadhaar biometric program earlier this year. The company continues to develop fingerprint authentication solutions for secure ID and payment applications across emerging markets.
The deal follows other recent agreements, including a NOK 6.3 million order for FAP 20 Basalt L1 Slim fingerprint sensors intended for integration into India-bound devices. This latest order further strengthens NEXT Biometrics’ position in the biometric authentication sector and expands its footprint in high-demand regions.
