NEXT Biometrics‘ roster of POS partners focused on the Indian market continues to grow, with the company announcing that it has now teamed up with Beijing-based Wiseasy. The latter will integrate NEXT Biometrics’ fingerprint sensors into POS terminals designed for compatibility with Aadhaar Enabled Payment System applications.
Aadhaar is, of course, India’s pioneering biometric national ID program. Initially positioned as a means of ensuring that social subsidies are delivered effectively to their intended recipients, Aadhaar has expanded into new application areas including payments and financial services, with Indian citizens now able to confirm their identities through biometric certification via Aadhaar.
This is a growing market that has emerged as a key focus area for NEXT Biometrics in recent months. The fingerprint biometrics specialist teamed up with another China-based POS specialist, Telpo, last autumn, and partnered with New Delhi-based MobiOcean this past February. Now, its partnership with Wiseasy will further secure its position in this market area, with NEXT Biometrics highlighting Wiseasy’s payments solutions’ applications across the areas of retail, food and beverage services, insurance, parking, telecommunications, and banking.
For Wiseasy, meanwhile, the partnership is an opportunity to team up with a well-established biometrics specialist. “NEXT’s certified large-area fingerprint sensor technology has proven its performance, reliability and user-friendliness in numerous real-life projects and use cases,” explained Wiseasy Supply Chain VP Danny Chan in a statement announcing the collaboration. “This capability ideally supports our target to create the most valuable solutions for our customers and business partners.”
