“One hundred fifty thousand sensors will start shipping to the client in the latter half of next year, with plans to add another 200,000 after that.”
NEXT Biometrics has scored another design win for its flexible fingerprint sensors designed for smart cards.
In announcing the new order, NEXT Biometrics did not disclose the name of its client, but indicated that it’s based in the US. One hundred fifty thousand sensors will start shipping to the client in the latter half of next year, with plans to add another 200,000 after that.
It’s the third major order that NEXT Biometrics has seen for its flexible smart card sensors, with a previous order for 250,000 sensors having been placed earlier this month, and an initial order having come in this past spring. NEXT is currently working with Taiwan-based partner Innolux to build its production capacity, an effort upon which the timing of these shipments appears to depend.
NEXT Biometrics announced this week that its flexible sensor technology will be showcased at next week’s Trustech 2016 expo.
