Nymi’s latest Nymi Band has officially received FIDO2 certification from the FIDO Alliance. The company has been a member of the Alliance since 2014, and built the Nymi Band 3.0 to meet the organization’s strict standards for passwordless authentication.
The FIDO2 certification covers the Nymi Connected Worker Platform (CWP) in addition to the band itself. The CWP is an enterprise software platform that allows employees to use the Nymi Band to log into various workplace systems, thereby creating a streamlined authentication procedure across an entire organization.
The Band itself uses fingerprint recognition to verify the identity of the user, and then provides ongoing passive authentication through the use of a heart rate monitor. The solution eliminates the need for passwords and PIN codes, and negates the threat that organizations traditionally face when those passwords are lost or stolen.
The Nymi Band is able to communicate with other devices thanks to its NFC capabilities. It can be used for physical and digital access control, and can also support an organization’s social distancing and contact tracing efforts.
Numerous companies have offered support for the Nymi Band since the 3.0 version debuted in September. Most notably, the Band is now compatible with the Ping Intelligent Identity Platform, and with WAVE ID and ELATEC readers.
