Suprema has launched a new door control module that can upgrade any Suprema access control setup to a smart access control system. Called the DM-20, the module can use RS485 or Wiegand networks, with no need to establish a new IP network.
DM-20 is built on Suprema’s BioStar 2 IP access control platform, which was recently upgraded with new developer tools and advanced administrative features. Each module includes four relay ports, an RS485 connection, and two Wiegand ports, which can even be used to connect third-party access control readers. It also has four TTL inputs plus four supervised inputs that monitor the circuit’s voltage. And by combining DM-20 units together, up to 32 doors can be supported in the access control network.
The module is designed to offer two overall advantages: versatility and security. In a statement, Suprema VP Young S. Moon asserted that it “delivers ultimate flexibility to system designers and installers,” adding that it can “enhance security by replacing the conventional systems with biometrics or smart reader controllers.” Suprema suggests that the module is ideal for mid- to enterprise-level access control applications.
