The Shuttle Computer Group has unveiled a programmable shelf sign that was designed to optimize retail operations. The D230 boasts a rugged 23.1-inch display and an integrated camera that supports gender and age recognition.
The camera will allow the D230 to estimate the age and gender of anyone who stops in front of the display. The store owner can then configure the sign to display ads, videos, and other content that is tailored to that specific demographic. The platform can also analyze shopper engagement and purchase patterns, so users can make adjustments to improve their outcomes over time.
“Shuttle has used its experience with digital signage to create a new, dynamic, streamlined display that gives power to store managers,” said Shuttle Solutions Manager Tosh Akhgar. “Store owners find it’s a valuable tool in their marketing mix.”
The D230 has IP-54 certification, and can be purchased with an accessory that allows five displays to be linked together. It is built with an ARM Cortex Hexa core 1.8GHz processor, and has USB and Micro SD inputs and Wi-Fi capabilities, amongst other features.
The D230 is not the only technology company trying to provide store owners with more insight into their clientele. VSBLTY recently formed an international partnership with UST Global, while CyberLink has repeatedly pitched its facial recognition platform for retail environments.
