“TAG Systems is one of most prominent card manufacturers in the Nordics and a first mover and leading supplier to European challenger banks. I am confident that this collaboration will further strengthen Zwipe’s position in the growing biometric payment marketplace.” – André Løvestam, CEO, Zwipe
Norway-based fingerprint biometrics specialist Zwipe is solidifying its position in the European biometric payment cards market with a new partnership. The company has teamed up with TAG Systems, a card manufacturer focused on the region.
A Key Ally in Biometric Cards
Headquartered in Andorra, TAG Systems also has offices in Norway, Poland, the UK, and Spain, as well as Colombia. And according to Zwipe, it’s one of the main suppliers to European ‘challenger’ banks disrupting the institutional financial services market.
As such, it could be an important ally in promoting Zwipe’s biometric payment card technology, with the partnership aimed at integrating Zwipe’s fingerprint sensors into its commercial card products.
Great Expectations
Commenting on the development in a statement, TAG Systems CEO Jon Neeraas said his team is excited to leverage Zwipe’s “expertise and intellectual property in this emerging product vertical”, adding later, “we believe financial institutions can embrace this biometric payment card technology and successfully scale up.”
Those expectations are certainly shared by Zwipe, which has been focusing intently on the emerging biometric payment cards market, as indicated in its recently-published year-end report.
