“With its extensive biometric national ID program, increasingly used to authenticate citizens across a range of services in the public and private sectors, India may represent a particularly fertile market for BIO-key’s fingerprint scanner products.”
A new partner could help to extend BIO-key‘s reach in the Indian market.
Called Quantum Business Advisory, or “QB Advisory”, it’s an IT consultancy with offices in Calcutta and Mumbai, with “a presence in Delhi and Hyderabad” as well, according to a statement announcing the partnership. The statement also pointed out that QB Advisory’s biggest client operates across 60 countries and has a staff of over 300,000.
Explaining the rationale behind the partnership, QB Advisory Managing Director Saurabh Rateria said, “BIO-key’s products and brand offer a natural complement to our portfolio of information security solutions,” adding that there is “a heightened focus on security across India, and organizations are open to investigating proven, scalable and cost-effective solutions that can strengthen security and protect critical assets.”
BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale, meanwhile, noted that before the partnership his firm “did not have a physical presence in India,” which he said put the company “at a significant disadvantage” in competitive terms. With its extensive biometric national ID program, increasingly used to authenticate citizens across a range of services in the public and private sectors, India may represent a particularly fertile market for BIO-key’s fingerprint scanner products.
News of the partnership comes after Kelvin Wong, BIO-key’s Managing Director for Asia, alluded to BIO-key’s “plans to set up support sales and marketing teams in India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Singapore and China,” ahead of a trade show in Hong Kong this past April. BIO-key is evidently following through on its expansionary plans, and could soon realize new business opportunities with the help of QB Advisory in particular.
