Stockholm-based eye tracking wearables company Tobii has announced the release of its Tobii Eye Tracker 5, designed and engineered specifically for gaming.
The device builds off of Tobii’s eye-tracking technology and applies it to gaming, allowing users the ability to control in-game cameras and actions with their head or eye movement, and track analytics on metrics such as tunnel vision, awareness and focus for training purposes.
“We are thrilled to launch Tobii Eye Tracker 5, which is designed specifically for gamers who aim to level up their game performance, improve their game experience, or improve the content they stream,” said Anand Srivatsa, Division CEO of Tobii Tech. “The enhancements in speed, responsiveness and head-tracking accuracy will benefit all types of gamers and should be particularly useful within esports and simulation games.”
The new device replaces the Tobii Eye Tracker 4C and features upgrades by way of improved speed and responsiveness along with more robust head-tracking and a universal mount allowing it to be attached to a wide variety of screen sizes and shapes.
Another feature found in the Tobii Eye Tracker 5 is its Windows Hello certification. The device is capable of biometric authentication via facial recognition for added security, and is fitted with biometric sensors that enable enterprise-grade password replacement.
Windows Hello is a biometric authentication system that debuted in Windows 10 and allows devices that have some form of biometric hardware to use it for authentication, as a replacement for traditional password or PIN security.
