Omaha-based voice biometrics specialist V2verify is welcoming a new Board member, and the appointment may signal a strengthening focus on the financial services sector.
The new appointee, Grant Gregory, was a co-founder of DoubleClick Inc., a digital marketing agency that was acquired by Google in 2008. Perhaps more to the point, though, is that Gregory has extensive experience in financial services: he has been the Chairman of merchant banking firm Gregory & Hoenemeyer since 1988; he is the President of Oakland Financial Services Inc.; and he’s the Chairman of the Board at Arbor Bank.
Gregory also spent 24 years at Touche Ross & Co., Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu’s corporate accounting arm, where he became an “internationally-acclaimed authority on Tax Policy and Economic Development and participated in a number of M&A transactions and restructurings,” according to a Bloomberg profile.
That kind of experience may suggest that V2verify is looking to gain greater traction in financial services, where voice recognition technology is an increasingly popular means of authentication in call centers, though it’s possible that Gregory’s expertise may instead come into play in potential merger or acquisition efforts.
In a statement announcing Gregory’s appointment, V2verify CEO Damian De Rozairo said, “We are pleased to welcome Mr. Gregory to the Board,” adding, “He brings a depth of experience found in few individuals and V2verify will benefit greatly from his unique perspectives.”
