Neurotechnology’s face liveness and presentation attack detection technology has passed a Level 2 evaluation aligned with ISO/IEC 30107-3.
The evaluation was conducted by BixeLab, which Neurotechnology identifies as accredited under the U.S. National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), with lab code 600301-0. BixeLab’s own materials describe the laboratory as NVLAP-accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and also recognized under programs including FIDO and MOSIP, within defined scopes.
In its announcement, Neurotechnology characterizes the outcome as a successful Level 2, or “Level B,” PAD evaluation. According to the company, Level 1 testing typically addresses basic presentation attacks such as printed photos or images and videos displayed on screens, while Level 2 testing involves more sophisticated presentation attack instruments. Neurotechnology specifically references attacks including 2D paper masks with cutouts, curved and three-dimensional surface projections, “shallow fakes,” and balaclava masks.
The company states that the evaluation confirms its PAD algorithms were able to block the vast majority of sophisticated spoofing attempts while maintaining a low false rejection rate for bona fide users. However, the press release does not disclose quantitative performance metrics, such as attack presentation classification error rate or bona fide presentation classification error rate, nor does it specify operating thresholds or test configurations.
Neurotechnology frames the evaluation as validation for upcoming releases of its MegaMatcher SDK, a multi-biometric software development kit supporting modalities such as face, fingerprint, voice, and iris, as well as MegaMatcher ID, its digital identity management and authentication platform.
ISO/IEC 30107-3 itself defines testing and reporting requirements for biometric presentation attack detection rather than prescribing pass or fail criteria. Vendors and laboratories commonly describe results in terms of compliance or conformance with the standard’s reporting framework. Neurotechnology’s release states that the evaluated releases “will comply” with ISO/IEC 30107-3 requirements.
Neurotechnology’s certificates page indicates that its face liveness technology has previously been tested by iBeta for compliance with ISO/IEC 30107-3.
