Frost & Sullivan has named NEC as its 2019 Biometrics Company of the Year in the Asia Pacific Region. The accolade is intended to recognize NEC’s pioneering work in multiple segments of the biometrics industry, with multimodal solutions that have integrated face, voice, iris, and fingerprint recognition alongside other forms of biometric identification.
“We are delighted to be named Company of the Year for the APAC Biometrics Industry,” said NEC Managing Director Tan Boon Chin. “This award celebrates our achievements and our philosophy of providing the best-in-class technology to businesses and governments globally.”
Frost & Sullivan specifically cited NEC’s NeoFace facial recognition platform while announcing its decision. It also lauded NEC for its use of analytics and AI to inform the development of future products.
NEC’s technology has been utilized in law enforcement, national identity, and numerous other industries. NeoFace is one of the company’s most popular offerings, and was recently deployed in a smart city surveillance system in Gurugram, India.
This is not the first time that Frost & Sullivan has recognized NeoFace; the firm named NEC as the 2016 Company of the Year for Facial Recognition Technology for Government and Public Sectors in North America. The latest accolade simply demonstrates NEC’s ongoing commitment to innovation in the biometrics space.
