The NEC Corporation is making a few changes in the executive suite with a series of new appointments to senior level positions. All of the changes will be effective as of April 1, and were approved by the company’s Board of Directors on January 29.
The new appointees include five new Senior Vice Presidents, all of which are being moved from other positions within the company. Two will also be taking on a secondary role in addition to their SVP responsibilities. Hiroshi Suzuki will be advancing from Executive Vice President to President of NEC Fielding. He will be taking over from outgoing SVP and NEC Fielding President Yasuyuki Nakae, who will be stepping down to take a role on the NEC Fielding Board.
Daisuke Horikawa, meanwhile, will serve as SVP and as the President of NEC Management Partner, where he will be asked to oversee the reform of the company’s business process and profit structure. Horikawa is currently the GM of NEC’s Public Infrastructure Planning Division.
The other new SVPs are Kazuhiko Shiraishi, Shinichi Sasho, and Akio Yamada. They will be leaving their roles as the VP of the Public Infrastructure Business Unit, the GM of the Community Solutions Division, and the VP of the Enterprise Business Unit, respectively.
The only other change concerns Shinji Waragai, who will act as an Advisor to the President instead of SVP. All other NEC executives will remain in their current positions. The company is hoping that the new appointments will enhance its research and development initiatives.
The corporate shakeup comes shortly after NEC announced that its facial recognition technology would soon be deployed to enhance the hospitality experience in select Mitsui hotels. The company will also be looking to generate new business opportunities when it showcases its 5G technology at the upcoming MWC Barcelona.
