Market research firm Research and Markets has issued a new report on biometrics developer NEC Corporation. Entitled “Security Competitive Profiles – NEC“, the report offers a comprehensive analysis of the company and its position in the overall biometrics market.
That position is, apparently, pretty good. In a report synopsis, Research and Markets calls NEC a “market leader” in biometric solutions for law enforcement and border control, and says the company “has a strong position in the security market, focused on the provision of biometrics, data analytics, and system integration solutions.” In terms of its overall business machinations, NEC is working on developing major partnerships, looking to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, and starting to focus on cloud services and big data as major potential business avenues for the future.
The company is also maintaining its focus on “security and IT Solutions for Society”, as evidenced in its development of such smart city systems as its Comprehensive Disaster Control System – recently announced for deployment in Tokyo – which uses behavioural biometrics to monitor crowd activity. Meanwhile, the report asserts that the company’s major brands like the NeoFace product line, which was recently ordered by police in Gujarat, India, “will be essential in its evolution as a security producer, although its current strengths are aligned with market demand.” In short, the company has firm footing now, and looks poised to place a solid next step forward.
