“NEC’s solution attained a matching accuracy of 99.33 percent for near-infrared images, with the company asserting in a statement that its solution demonstrated ‘highly precise feature extraction, matching and advanced noise reduction.'”
NEC technology attained the highest accuracy ranking in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s recent Iris Exchange (IREX) IX evaluations, the company has announced.
NEC’s technology beat out solutions from a dozen other groups. The company’s solution attained a matching accuracy of 99.33 percent for near-infrared images, with the company asserting in a statement that its solution demonstrated “highly precise feature extraction, matching and advanced noise reduction.”
The achievement further burnishes NEC’s credibility as a provider of highly sophisticated biometric technologies, with the company having attained the top ranking in NIST’s Face in Video evaluation of facial recognition technologies last year. The biometric technologies are part of a larger NEC line called ‘BIO-IDiom’.
Commenting on this most recent NIST achievement, NEC Executive Vice President Kazuhiro Takada said, “Following these results, we will continue to contribute to the realization of safe and secure communities with the global development and provision of our portfolio of technologies and services centered on biometric authentication, Bio-IDiom, including cutting edge iris authentication.”
