NEC Corporation of America is bringing new biometric capabilities to its UNIVERGE Communications platforms, the company has announced.
One of those capabilities is dubbed NeoFace Welcome, a virtual receptionist system that uses NEC’s top-ranking facial recognition technology to identify individuals and give them personalized greetings and messages. It can also provide targeting marketing media based on the age and gender of the individual it is addressing.
Another is NeoFace Watch, which uses NEC’s facial recognition technology for security purposes. When it detects a particular face, it can automatically send an instant message to the UNIVERGE UCC platform along with contextual information detailing when and where the individual was spotted. This also has non-security applications, such as notifying hotel administrators when VIP guests have arrived.
In a statement, NEC indicated that it “is now conducting field testing and preparing a delivery timetable” for these features, which the company is demonstrating at this week’s Enterprise Connect Conference at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando.
