“The backbone of these facial recognition-driven solutions is NEC’s NeoFace biometric technology, which the company was also showcasing at last year’s Big Show.”
The National Retail Federation’s Retail’s Big Show event is underway, and NEC Corporation of America is using the event to raise the profile of biometric technologies in the retail sector.
The company is showcasing a number of solutions at the expo, including a heat mapping system that allows retailers to track customer flow through their stores. But most of NEC’s biometric efforts revolve around facial recognition. Its technology can assess customers’ demographic attributes such as age and gender in order to offer customized marketing, and can even identify faces, with the latter capability being integrated with Brierley’s CRM platform to help client companies maintain customer loyalty. Meanwhile, it’s also being used by ‘Kylie’, a digital avatar that can say hi to regular customers and offer personalized promotions.
The backbone of these facial recognition-driven solutions is NEC’s NeoFace biometric technology, which the company was also showcasing at last year’s Big Show. But with the technology having evolved into even more sophisticated solutions, it could help NEC to draw even more attention from attendees this year.
