NEC has announced some changes to its board-level leadership.
Jun Ohta, the CEO of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, Inc. (SMBC) is joining the Board of Directors, where he will replace Takeshi Kunibe.
Ohta made his career at SMBC, having first joined the company in 1982, and being named its Director in 2014. He attained his current position as Director President and Group Chief Executive Officer in April of last year.
The other change concerns NEC’s Audit & Supervisory Board, to which Masami Nitta has been appointed. Nitta is a Certified Public Accountant, having attained the title in 1983. For several years he was employed as an accountant with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, reaching high level executive positions with the company; and in 2017 he established his own accounting firm, Nitta Public Accountant Office. Nitta replaces Kazuyasu Yamada, who is retiring from the Audit & Supervisory Board.
The appointments are subject to the adoption of resolutions proposed for NEC’s Ordinary Meeting of Shareholders, which the IT and biometrics giant has scheduled for June of this year.
NEC’s announcement of the board changes comes after the company made multiple executive appointments in January, which are slated to take effect April 1st.
