Aware, Inc. is a longtime player in the biometrics industry, but the company has had some particularly big wins over the last year. It scored a $38 million dollar contract from the UK Home Office to help develop a biometric services system for border control and law enforcement; and, as CEO Kevin Russell noted in the company’s recent Q4 update, Aware also saw a “large license sale” of its Knomi mobile biometric authentication system.
Accordingly, Knomi proved to be an important topic when FindBiometrics’ Susan Stover got to catch up with Aware’s international sales director, Kai Imgenberg, at Mobile World Congress this week. Imgenberg also revealed that Aware had won a contract with a major Latin American bank last year – though he couldn’t disclose its name – and he offered a glimpse at what Aware has in store going forward, including technological advancements aimed at enhancing the company’s ability to fight biometric spoofing attempts, an increasingly important matter in today’s security environment.
